Production

What type of budgets do the top 20 films have? Are they generally Big Six blockbusters? Any independents?

Are these popular films? Are these the type of films People are watching?

Why are more and more VOD services coming available? Why do people in general seem to be buying over the internet?

Why do some consumers like subscription services? How many users do they have in the UK?

Can you still buy hard copy DVDs and Blue-rays? Are they as popular as they were? Where can you buy them? Try to find sales figures.

Marketing
What has driven you to buy/rent/watch films?
Consider the different types of advertising:
Word of mouth; viral marketing; TV trailers; trailers in cinema.

Social networks – Have you ever discussed, shared, liked, and tweeted about a film?

Merchandise - have you ever bought any merchandise, including clothing?

Theme parks and attractions – have you ever visited a theme park or attraction based on a film or film studio?

How much money do film studios spend on advertising and marketing? Do film studios advertise in a variety of ways? Above the line (Big 6) V Below the  line (independent)

Do studios or films that you watch have their own Face book or Twitter pages? Why would they do this?

Is there a lot of merchandise available for the films that you like to watch? Is this merchandise popular? Is it expensive? Does it increase the profits of the film studio?

Which film studios have theme parks or attractions? Are these popular?
Exhibition
Which platforms do you prefer to consume films on? Why? Rather than with distribution – focus on the experience you have rather than the

Cinema – When you go to the cinema, what is the experience like? How comfortable is it? Does it suit some films better than others?

Television – How do you feel watching films on TV Vs a different platform?

DVD/Blue-ray – similar to TV but could be more up to date – what is the experience like?

Laptop/tablet/mobile device – where and when would you access films on a device – what does it feel like watching on a mobile device.

What have cinema chains and film production companies done to improve cinema viewing experience?

Why do production companies only allow older films on terrestrial TV?
